Sanford, ME, September 02, 2026 --(PR.com)-- Eric Skillings has completed his new book, “Stripped”: an impactful autobiographical work that takes readers into the author’s struggles with addiction and recovery.

Author Eric Skillings watched his family break apart at a young age, only to go on to commit crimes and go to a youth detention facility at the age of eleven. He dedicated his life to the “con code” and used drugs and alcohol to escape his pain. His crimes got worse, and his jail sentences got longer until he became an adult and started serving jail sentences in the county jail. He kept committing crimes to feed his addiction to opiates and crack cocaine until he went to prison for the first time. He got out of prison and was only out for a short period of time until he went back to prison. This time, he entered a rehab program in prison where he turned his life around. Things were going great for him when he got out of prison, until he had a traumatic work accident that landed him in a wheelchair. But he was a fighter.

Author Eric Skillings is from three small towns in Maine, nicknamed the Tri-Towns: Old Orchard Beach, Saco, and Biddeford. His parents got divorced at a young age, and his mother worked two jobs to support him and his brother. Eric struggled with addiction from a young age to adulthood. He finally got the help he needed when he was in prison and got accepted to a nine-month rehab where he turned his life around and started helping people like himself.

Eric has three children: Calvin, Tyson, and Eric Jr. He currently resides in Sanford, Maine, where he is a recovery advocate who helps people in need of detox or treatment.

Eric writes, “My parents divorced at a young age. When my father left, I felt like I got sucker punched right in the gut. He was my hero. Even though I loved him more than he loved me, he didn’t treat me the way I deserved to be treated. One day, my older brother and I were riding in the front seat of the car with my father driving. My brother and I were making fart noises. My brother stopped when my father said to, but I kept going. My father backhanded me in the nose. I still remember, at thirty-seven, his big strong hand hitting me in the face.”

Published by Page Publishing, Eric Skillings’s expressive and stirring work invites readers to understand his experiences and how he overcame his hardships.
