They returned to their hometown of Plainfield, Indiana, in 1976. In 1978, Kathy enrolled at Indiana University Purdue University and started her training to become a registered nurse. Kathy graduated in 1981. By 1983, they had three children. Rob later took up a nursing career and graduated ten years after Kathy, in 1991.
