BioCorneum® is a patented, topical, self-drying silicone gel scar treatment which is only available to patients from licensed medical professionals. A spray version of the product will be released in late 2006.
Under a distribution agreement with Seattle-based Advanced Bio-Technologies, Inc, CaraMedica has obtained the exclusive right to market BioCorneum® to cosmetic surgeons and dermatologists in the USA. CaraMedica’s pharmaceutical sales representatives will begin selling BioCorneum® nationwide April 23, 2006.
BioCorneum®, classified by the FDA under a 510(k) as a medical device, manages old and new scars, and prevents the formation of keloids, hypertrophic and atrophic scars resulting from surgery, trauma, burns and skin infections. When applied to the affected area, it suppresses growth factors that lead to scarring, while protecting tissue against physical, chemical and microbial invasion. BioCorneum® rapidly self-dries, offering patients a discreet, effective and convenient way to treat scars.
