James J. Smythe’s newly released “Adventures in the Sky” invites young readers on a heartwarming journey of friendship, faith, and imagination among the clouds.
“Adventures in the Sky” from Christian Faith Publishing author James J. Smythe is a charming children’s story that transforms the sky into a world of wonder, teaching young readers about hope, change, and the power of friendship through the adventures of two lovable cloud companions.
Singer Island, FL, October 01, 2026 --(PR.com)-- “Adventures in the Sky”: a delightful and imaginative tale for children. “Adventures in the Sky” is the creation of published author, James J. Smythe, who grew up in Northern California as one of six children, surrounded by a close-knit group of seven friends who spent every free moment immersed in imaginative play. From building forts to inventing adventures, their favorite game was asking, “What if we were…?” That spirit of creativity inspired Adventures in the Sky, which answers the whimsical question, “What if clouds were friends?” and explores the wonder of being a cloud.
Through these childhood experiences, James learned the value of creativity, loyalty, and limitless imagination. The book is dedicated to his seven friends and to the Holy Spirit, whom he credits as the inspiration behind the story.
Smythe shares, “This story is about two young clouds who are moving through the sky for the first time. They laugh and have fun, and they decide to become friends. Due to very strong winds, they are separated from each other.
Their journey begins as they look for each other throughout the sky. Along the way, they meet many wise and encouraging clouds who teach them the importance of having faith, love, friendship, courage, and never losing hope. They learn being a cloud is a great adventure. And they learn so much about what happens in the sky, and how each cloud has a purpose.
“Clouds enjoy changing shapes each and every day! Do not be afraid of changes in your life, Cielo. Change is part of your life.”
“So now, I am a rain cloud? Is that what I am? I have never heard of a rain cloud!” shouts Cambia.
“Friends help their friends when they need them. And remember, Cambia, always treat your friends the way you like to be treated.”
“The Master of the Sky is in control of the wind. And he is in control of the sky.”
“Do you think the Master of the Sky will help me find Cielo?” asks Cambia.
“If you trust him and believe he will bring Cielo back to you, it can happen," declares Amiga. "I truly hope this happens for you! It is so important to have good friends.”
Testimonial:
“After reading Adventures in the Sky, I never look at clouds the same. This is a playful and delightful story!
Smythe uses personification of cloud formations by inventing characters with personality traits. For example, Boomer, the Lightning and Thunder Cloud from Nimbus-Ville, teaches Cambia, all about lightning and thunder. Meanwhile, Cielo learns all about being a snow-making cloud from Zapada, the Big Snow Cloud.
I encourage you to read this charming book with a child or a good friend. I have done so, and it has made a lifelong memory. I also encourage you to become an avid cloud gazer.”
