Recent Release, "Lifa and a New Friend," from Christian Faith Publishing Author Rik Combs, Celebrates the Enduring Bond Between a Child and a Rescued Greyhound

Jefferson City, MO, October 26, 2026 --(PR.com)-- Rik Combs has completed a new book, "Lifa and a New Friend," which tells the heartwarming story of a retired racing greyhound who becomes an irreplaceable member of a loving family. When Combs and his wife sought a gentle companion for their young daughter, they found far more than a pet—they discovered a faithful friend whose calm nature and affectionate spirit would shape their household for over a decade. Through vivid storytelling, readers follow Lifa's journey from the Texas racing track to a home filled with warmth and belonging.

Drawing from his own experience as a decorated combat veteran and former United States Air Force officer, Combs brings authenticity and tenderness to his narrative. His background as CEO of Baron AG and his upbringing on a cattle farm instilled in him an appreciation for animals and their unique personalities. These life experiences inform the deep compassion evident throughout the work, as he honors not only his beloved Lifa but also celebrates the countless greyhounds awaiting rescue and loving homes.

"Lifa and a New Friend" invites young readers into a touching portrait of loyalty and unconditional love. Through Lifa's gentle presence, children discover how rescue animals enrich our lives with patience, joy, and quiet devotion. The narrative emphasizes the transformative power of compassion while encouraging young people to appreciate the remarkable bonds that form between humans and animals. Readers will find themselves moved by Lifa's story and inspired to consider the importance of giving displaced animals a second chance at happiness.

"This book is dedicated to Jill and Ilse, and to all children who share a love of animals," said Combs. "I hope young readers everywhere will be touched by Lifa's gentle spirit and inspired to extend kindness to all creatures in need of care."
