PR.com)-- Woosnam will have to secure his third victory at the flagship event to avoid fellow seniors tour player and friend Bernard Langher from taking his place as leader of the European Seniors Order of Merit.
De Vere will reunite the former Ryder Cup captain with four members of the winning team of 1987 – the historic year that saw Woosie and his team comprehensively beat America on their soil.
Woosnam’s performance this year has been consistently high, with two European Senior wins under his belt, a second place finish in the Ryder Cup Wales Seniors Open; and strong finishes in the Senior Open Championship and last week’s US Senior Open.
The former world number one and Masters Champion (1991) will tee-off in Northumberland as one of the favourites to lift the trophy... “I’m really looking forward to playing in one of the flagship events of the European Seniors Tour and it always adds something special when you’re competing against friends at a great venue.” Woosnam commented.
