VelociDoc® Urgent Care EMR Named Semi-Finalist in Innovate Illinois 2010
Belvidere, IL, December 24, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Practice Velocity, LLC, a medical software company based in Belvidere, Ill., was recently named a semi-finalist in Innovate Illinois 2010, a highly competitive statewide entrepreneurial and innovation competition that recognizes high-growth entrepreneurs. Illinois businesses compete based on the merits of their innovations in the hopes of being named one of the most innovative companies in the state.

Practice Velocity submitted its VelociDoc® urgent care EMR (electronic medical record), the first EMR designed specifically for urgent care clinics by an urgent care physician. More than 5,500 urgent care and occupational medicine providers in 48 states currently utilize Practice Velocity’s products and services, which also include PiVoT™ Charting and Coding, PVM™ Practice Management, and PV Billing®.

Of the more than 90 Illinois companies that applied for the 2010 Innovate Illinois program, only 38 were selected to present at one of three regional semi-finals competitions. Practice Velocity was among the 38 semi-finalists that traveled to southern Illinois in October to present the VelociDoc® product to a panel of judges. Other companies chosen in the same competition track include Cazoodle of Champaign and Neurowave Medical Technologies and Innovative Exams, both of Chicago. Finalists in the program went on to compete in Chicago in December.

“Although we were not chosen as finalists in the competition, we’re honored to be selected as semi-finalists out of the nearly 100 other businesses across the state that applied,” said David Stern, MD, Practice Velocity CEO. “We’re pleased to be recognized for the innovations we have made in the urgent care industry. We offer the only EMR designed by an experienced urgent care physician. This allows us to provide products and services that maximize the revenues and efficiencies of urgent care centers.”

The Innovate Illinois program is administered jointly by the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) and the Chicagoland Entrepreneurial Center, an affiliate of the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce. The purpose of the program is to recognize the important impact innovation has on the state’s economy and to promote companies that have taken a risk by creating new jobs. Since 2005, 33 companies have been recognized as statewide winners. For more information, visit www.innovateillinois.org.
