Offshore Sailing School Celebrates 47th Anniversary in New York City
New York, NY, April 12, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Offshore Sailing School is planning an anniversary party in New York City on Friday, May 13, 2011 from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. to celebrate 47 years of teaching people to sail. Steve and Doris Colgate, founders of Offshore Sailing School now based in Fort Myers, Florida, will host the anniversary party on the 1st Floor of the Golf Club at Chelsea Piers, 23rd Street and the Hudson River which overlooks the Hudson at Pier 59.

“It seems like just yesterday that I started teaching sailing from a boatyard on City Island, New York,” states Steve Colgate. “And after 47 years, I still have that passion—to share sailing with anyone who loves the outdoors.”

The celebration will include an overview of what Offshore Sailing School has to offer at locations on both sides of the Hudson River and five other resort destinations; some fun stories and tips from Olympic and America’s sailor Steve Colgate; as well as drawings for courses and club memberships. Refreshments and light hors d'oeuvres will be served. Those who attend will also receive coupons for discounts on the school’s sailing lessons and certification courses. The many learning options range from two-hour lessons to one-day refreshers and three to five-day certification courses. A kids and teens sail free program allows parents to share the sailing lifestyle with their offspring. Couples and singles can take advantage of the Offshore Sailing Club after learning to sail with Offshore.

Offshore Sailing School was founded by Steve Colgate in 1964 in New York City and has been operating continuously in the New York Metro area since. The Liberty Landing Marina (Jersey City) and Chelsea Piers (NYC) campuses are open April through October. The first Florida location opened in 1975 on Captiva Island. It now operates three locations in Florida—South Seas Island Resort on Captiva Island, the Pink Shell Beach Resort and Spa on Ft. Myers Beach and another in St. Petersburg.

Other locations include a longtime partnership with The Moorings in the British Virgin Islands and The Inn at Perry Cabin in St. Michaels, Maryland on the Chesapeake. Since its inception, more than 125,000 graduates have gone through Offshore Sailing School programs.

Space is limited to the first 50 guests who RSVP for the party by May 6, 2011 by calling Terri at 800-221-4326, or email terri@OffshoreSailing.com or sail@OffshoreSailing.com.
