About Dr. Amit Sarkar
With over 50 years experience, Dr. Sarkar is an internationally-recognized Author, Poet, Lyricist and Music Composer. He has written and composed over 200 songs, a biography, Belles-lettres, novels and poetry. Published works include “Façade of Myths”, “Mayu”, “Moments in Time”, “Secularism and Constitutionality”, “Social Justice: Rhetoric & Reality”, “Naturalism, Humanism and Participating Jurisprudence” and 3 vernacular publications of poetry and lyrics. Dr. Sarkar is a Life Member with the Criminology Society of India and a Teacher with the National Institute of Criminology and Forensic Science in India. He is a well-known lyricist/music composer of All India Radio, the Gramophone Company of India and Hilltop Records in California. He was born in Assam, India and obtained a M.A. in Economics and a L.L.B. from Guwahati University as well as a Ph.D. in Sociology from Mahatma Gandhi University. Previously, he served in many positions in education and law in India including lecturer, a District Judge and partner in a law firm. In 1992, Dr. Sarkar came to the U.S. as a Visiting Scholar with Boston University where he worked on Human Rights and Law. He also studied U.S. law .
