ShiftHound Online Staff Scheduling Software Announces New Tools to Manage Avoidable Overtime and Support Safe Staffing with the Release of v5.2

San Diego, CA, July 15, 2016 --(PR.com)-- ShiftHound (www.shifthound.com), the leading provider of cloud-based Staff Scheduling Software, delivers version 5.2 of its unrivaled online Scheduling and Open Shift Management (OSM) application. “Our main priority with this new release is to support our clients in the management of overtime costs and the risks associated with fatigue,” says ShiftHound’s President and Founder, Ian Chaplin.

With version 5.2 the Avoidable Overtime functionality goes beyond identifying overtime situations; it provides a solution to the overtime. When a shift is going to result in overtime, the user is alerted and has the option to find a replacement. With one click, a list is presented of qualified staff that can be assigned without being in overtime, making it very easy to avoid overtime with a slight adjustment to the schedule.

Safe staffing is also addressed in version 5.2. Rules can be set that trigger alerts when a staff member has exceeded or is going to exceed a defined targeted number of hours, separate from overtime rules. These rules can be defined by employee type, and those making staffing decisions will have this information instantly available to them.

“Working too many hours is not just a financial issue; it is also a safety issue,” says Kathy Douglas, RN, ShiftHound’s CCO. “By surfacing this data at the point of decision we are empowering smart, as well as safe, staffing decisions.”

The new version of ShiftHound offers other features to make ShiftHound more effective and efficient for users. One of the most requested features is the ability for staff to offer only part of a shift for another staff member to cover, and this new capability is typical of the extreme flexibility ShiftHound offers. Data capture and staff profiles have also been enhanced in this release, including the option to upload images to be a part of the user profile. These images will show in staff profiles and can be displayed in the PowerSchedulerTM screen. For clients that use ShiftHound as a means to track projects of a fixed duration, the application can now support auto activation and inactivation of departments. The new version provides more in-depth audit reporting, and also many enhancements to the user interface such as more detailed notifications and enhanced staff views aimed at making ShiftHound even more powerful and easier to use.

ShiftHound’s Staff Scheduling solution is simple to learn and use for both Managers and Staff. The product's power lies in its ease of use, and the web-based, in “the cloud” model allows for one low monthly charge, eliminating the need for expensive technical staff and maintenance fees. ShiftHound gives its customers painless, free upgrades and they can turn on functionality and modules as or when they are needed, on demand.
