Delaware State Police and Bank of America Will Provide the Safe Kids Card Child Identification Program for a 2nd Year

Through a continued partnership with the Ronnie Williams Foundation, Bank of America Charitable Foundation and the Delaware State Police, over 3,000 Delaware children have received the state-of-the-art digital ID kits.

Wilmington, DE, June 08, 2008 --(PR.com)-- With continued support from the Bank of America Charitable Foundation, the Ronnie Williams Foundation and Delaware State Police will continue to offer Safe Kids Cards, wallet size CD identification cards that hold emergency and medical information along with photos and fingerprints. The digital format allows police and emergency officials to access the information much quicker, therefore speeding up recovery and treatment. Last year, over 3,000 children received the state-of-the art digital ID kits.

“We are excited to continue a program that will help keep our children safe,” said Richard K. Struthers, president, Bank of America Delaware. “Bank of America is pleased to partner with the Delaware State Police to provide essential funds for an effective tool assisting both parents and police officers.”

Through a unique partnership, the Bank of America Charitable Foundation and the Ronnie Williams Foundation were able to provide 2,500 additional Safe Kids Card ID kits to the Delaware State Police this year. “These ID kits are the next generation of child identification in that parents are able to store information on up to 3 children per CD,” said Jennifer Hawkins, My Family CD law enforcement program coordinator. “This allows them to carry all of their emergency information in one, easily accessible location.”

By utilizing the advanced Safe Kids Card program, Delaware State Police will provide identification for up to 7,500 children this year and encourage parents to talk with their children about stranger safety.

"The Safe Kid Card program has made a difference" said Cpl. Michelle Foraker. "It has allowed parents to discuss stranger safety while explaining how important child identification truly is."
