(LTI) has added more polymer testing capabilities to the SEM/EDS and FTIR analyses previously available and can now provide information about the mechanical properties of plastics and other polymers with the addition of tensile and hardness testing for these materials. Fracture Toughness Testing Now Performed at Laboratory Testing Inc.
Laboratory Testing Inc. (LTI) now does Fracture Toughness Testing to measure conditions under which existing cracks in material will lengthen when subjected to prescribed loading conditions. LTI performs the test to ASTM standards E399 and E1820, and has fixturing to test specimens including SE(B) (single edge bend) and C(T) (compact tension). The equipment can generate 55,000 lbs. of force. An environmental chamber controls test temperature from -150° F to +350° F. - July 27, 2012
