Record Q3 E-book Downloads, New Partnerships Boost Ingram Digital’s Retail Solutions Unit

LaVergne, TN, October 11, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Ingram Digital SM, an Ingram content company focused on solutions for digital content management, distribution and promotion, today announced that its Retail Solutions unit has enjoyed record third quarter growth with downloads more than double the same quarter last year.

In addition, Ingram Digital was selected by Adobe® Systems Incorporated to collaborate in the development and testing of the recently-announced Adobe Content Server 4, a new digital rights management solution that protects downloadable e-books viewed with Adobe Digital Editions, Adobe’s free client software for managing, protecting, and reading e-books. Ingram Digital’s channel customers were among the first in the world to begin delivering secure e-books via the Content Server 4 technology.

“At Ingram Digital, we pride ourselves on delivering an unparalleled range of digital distribution services to the book industry, working with publishers, retailers and libraries,” said James Gray, President and CEO of Ingram Digital. “Adobe Content Server 4 is an important addition to our offerings, allowing us to provide the digital protection and channel flexibility that our partners are seeking.”

Ingram Digital currently offers more than 130,000 active e-book titles from more than 1,100 publishers. With support for multiple formats, Ingram Digital offers customers the flexibility to download books to PCs, PDAs, dedicated e-book readers, Smartphones, and with the eReader format, directly to iPhones. Currently, all five leading e-book formats are supported, including Adobe e-books as PDF and EPUB files, MS Reader, eReader, and Vitalbooks.

Andrew Weinstein, Vice President and General Manager of Ingram Digital Retail Solutions, commented: “We deliver solutions that dramatically reduce the challenges of operating a high performance, multi-DRM infrastructure. Our format-agnostic approach to the sale and distribution of digital content has proven to be of great value to retailers. We are currently working with such prominent booksellers as Diesel ebooks, eReader/Fictionwise, and Powell’s Books and adding new retailers every month.”

With a very low cost of entry, the expanding e-book market enables publishers to generate additional revenue from existing content with minimal risk. In addition, as the handheld and wireless device markets continue to enjoy substantial growth, the opportunity for e-books grows correspondingly.
