Travel Industry Rallies Around the Family Holiday Association at The Travel Convention

The Family Holiday Association has raised £6,000 at The Travel Convention in Gran Canaria to aid in its work giving underprivileged families a break.

Maspalomas, Spain, October 16, 2008 --(PR.com)-- The Family Holiday Association (FHA) can help around 40 underprivileged children have a break away with their family thanks to delegates at The Travel Convention in Gran Canaria.

The charity benefited from four events and a collection at the convention, raising a total of £6,000 to go towards its work giving a break to families living in poverty, usually in a caravan at a UK holiday park.

Arnold Fisher Insurance Services Ltd sponsored the charity’s convention campaign, where delegates were given a Fraggle toy and asked to make a contribution.

Argyle Recruitment and Gran Canaria Tourist Board organised a fun run, which was sponsored by Citybond Suretravel.

At the e-tid.com breakfast, delegates were asked to donate for a chance to win a luxury day trip with Orient Express, while both the tennis tournament organised by Arnold Fisher and Traveltime World and the football match held by Youtravel.com and C&M Recruitment held raffles to raise funds.

FHA director John McDonald, said, “We’re really grateful for the support of so many travel companies at ABTA this year.”

“The travel industry is well aware of the benefits of a break away and it’s fantastic that everyone is rallying around to make sure disadvantaged kids don’t miss out on something that we all take for granted – a trip to the seaside,” he said.
