SAOVA and Ami Moore Support Hunting Dogs and Herding Dogs

SAOVA is a nationwide, nonpartisan group of volunteers seeking to elect politicians who will oppose animal rightists. It is the only national group working to protect both sportsmen and animal owners - natural allies - in the legislative and political arenas. SAOVA's members hunt and fish, and own livestock, dogs, cats and other pets. Ami Moore supports SAOVA because she believes that real work keeps dogs' bloodlines healthy.

Chicago, IL, October 27, 2008 --(PR.com)-- What’s the difference between an animal rightist and an individual who supports animal rights?

“I am for the humane treatment of animals,” explains Chicago dog behaviorist Ami Moore, who puts herself in the category of animal rights advocates.

“I support the humane use of animals in our lives in all aspects of our lives. Our relationship with animals shows us how to relate better with other people. Animals as attractions in zoos and animal parks, as features in circuses and rodeos, as pets, as participants in research, and as food are a part of the human experience.”

An animal rightist, on the other hand, is an individual who generally maintains a vegan diet and who doesn’t believe animals should be used by humans in any way-even for healing therapy or for research into drugs that can cure diseases.

“An animal rightist champions the position that the use of animals in any way – as food, as research, or as companions – should be outlawed, from goldfish to golden retrievers,” Moore says. “This means that eventually all of the animals that we love would go extinct-just like dinosaurs. If animals can’t be with us in our homes and hearts-that means that they won’t exist at all.”

For those who have an interest in supporting politicians who stand for animal rights, help is available. The Sportsmen’s and Animal Owners Voting Alliance (SAOVA) helps voters determine which candidates support animal rights and which follow the beliefs of animal rightists.

“We study political candidates in all states to identify those who understand and resist the animal rightist threat, as well as those who are in the pocket of the animal rightists,” SAOVA’s Web site explains.

“Since 2002, SAOVA’s volunteers have interviewed politicians running for election to the U.S. Congress for the first time. Each election cycle, we also review the voting records of incumbents standing for re-election. The goal of these activities is to determine candidates’ positions on the animal rightists’ threats to our sport, avocations and farming livelihoods.”
