New Children’s Book Helps Kids Discover Their Special Gifts

Richmond, VA, November 01, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Children are our most precious resource, but sometimes they don’t realize just how special they are. Now, a beautifully illustrated new book from author Sandra Nesselrode encourages children to recognize their own unique talents and gifts. And it does so by introducing them to one very special princess.

Meet Princess Kelsie, star of “Princess Kelsie and Her Special Gifts.” Now available through the Outskirts Press Online Store (www.outskirtspress.com/store.php), this engaging book for kids ages 3 to 10 tells the story of a young girl whose beauty is the envy of every maiden in the land. And yet, the lack of a brother or sister to play with leaves her feeling lonely. She spends her time helping the creatures of the forest - the rabbits, foxes, bears and deer that populate this medieval land - with their troubles, using her special ability to speak their unique animal language. But still, something’s missing.

Then she receives an important message from Princeton the owl, the wisest of the entire forest: God blesses those who share their special gifts with others, he tells Princess Kelsie. In time, something wonderful will happen to change her life - and it might just involve a brand new baby brother.

Lavishly illustrated in rich watercolors by renowned children’s book artist Sally H. Taylor, “Princess Kelsie and Her Special Gifts” helps kids understand their innate abilities are meant to be shared with those around them, whomever that might be. No gift is too small or reason too great to keep it all to yourself, the book reveals: “Even though Princess Kelsie felt like something was missing from her life, she never stopped being kind and found ways to use her gifts and talents to help others,” states Nesselrode.

It’s a message that’s applicable to children in all sorts of family situations. For parents of an only child, the book is a wonderful tool for showing children their ability to positively affect their community through their talents. At the same time, the book helps children welcome a new sibling and understand the important role they will play in a newly enlarged family.

Inspiring and uplifting, “Princess Kelsie and Her Special Gifts” is now available through Ingram, Baker & Taylor, Amazon.com, barnesandnoble.com, and the online bookstore of Outskirts Press, at outskirtspress.com/store.php.
