Raleigh, NC, May 31, 2006 --(PR.com)-- Erika Mangrum, President of Iatria Day Spa, will serve on the 2006 North Carolina Education Ball Steering Committee which includes top elected officials, business leaders and educators who plan the event. The 2006 Education Ball will be hosted by Fred and Patsy Day at the Progress Energy Center for the Performing Arts on June 3, from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. The event will raise money for the Communities In Schools program (CIS), which assists less fortunate children and their families by providing them with a continuous education. “Serving on the Education Ball Committee grants me the opportunity to give back to the community,” said Mangrum. “Communities In Schools is an excellent educational program that has supported families for over 25 years and has a 96 percent success rate.”

About Community In Schools (CIS):
For over 25 years, CIS has championed the connection of needed community resources with schools and neighborhoods to help young people successfully learn, stay in school and prepare for life. The Communities In Schools network serves over 76,000 children and their families across North Carolina. While CIS students are usually those at a high risk of dropping out, once part of the CIS family, 96 percent of the students stay in school; 92 percent are promoted to the next grade and 95 percent of CIS seniors graduate from high school.
