Sydney, Australia, December 17, 2008 --(PR.com
)-- Social networking websites are helping to drive growth in destination weddings.
These are the findings by leading wedding website provider MomentVille, based on an analysis of the user database.
MomentVille, specialising in offering consumers a platform to design and promote their own unique wedding website, has determined that 15 percent of its total user database of active consumers are planning destination weddings.
A comprehensive survey of American brides in 2006 by Conde Nast Bridal Group indicted that 16 percent of all weddings were destination weddings, an incredible 400 percent increase since 1996. Popular destinations remain Caribbean islands, Mexico and Hawaii, with exotic locals such as the Maldives and Thailand gaining in fashion.
Despite the current economic crisis and a projected decrease in global travel, MomentVille’s analysis suggests couples are still planning destination weddings.
“Destination weddings remain popular and our analysis indicates the difficult economic conditions are not holding couples back. Destination weddings offer relaxation in beautiful environments – something more and more valued in these uncertain times,” said Geoff Evason, CEO, MomentVille.
Social networking websites, such as MomentVille, provide couples with an easy-to-use platform to plan and communicate all important details about their weddings. Within minutes users are able to set up their own personalised website around their own, unique wedding and share news, event details, photos and much more with invited guests.
“Weddings, and especially destination weddings, involve a considerable amount of planning and two-way communications with friends and family. Personalised wedding websites, as offered by MomentVille, help facilitate this interactive communication,” continued Geoff Evason.
With average monthly growth in excess of 35 percent, MomentVille is now the wedding website provider of choice in major markets, Australia, Canada, UK and USA. Couples continue to set up personalised websites in record numbers, to share and exchange details of their respective weddings.
