A Little Chinese New Year Cheer to Old Folk

Melaka, Malaysia, February 14, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Old folks at the Rumah Sejahtera Melaka Tengah Paya Ikan in Bukit Baru, were recently had a joyous Chinese New Year celebration organized by Renaissance Caring Club, Renaissance Melaka Hotel.

Renaissance Caring Club continued with this spirit to serve the community during Chinese New Year by organizing this visit to the home. The team, led by its President Suseela Abdullah and Director of Human Resources Mazlan Ariffin, handed out ang pows and packed lunch to the elderly residents here today.

To add a little more cheer for the elderly, the team also prepared a big plate of 'Yee Sang' to toss with the home’s 31 elderly. Everyone participates in adding the ingredients and tossing 'Yee Sang' which signifies the celebration of good health and prosperity. Each of them was served with a lip-smacking 'Yee Sang' and they enjoyed the food with smile on face.

“The 'Yee Sang' platter is to give the elderly a feel of the traditional Chinese New Year family reunion. It’s an opportunity for them to mingle with one another while enjoying the festival like everyone else,” said the club President Suseela Abdullah.
