)-- HotelTravel.com has appointed Tom Racette as the company’s Chief Communications Officer based at its corporate headquarters in Phuket, Thailand.
HotelTravel.com Chief Executive Officer, Blair Speers, said Mr Racette would play a lead role in ramping up the company’s marketing communication efforts as HotelTravel.com positions itself to become a global leader in on-line hotel reservations.
Mr Racette has over 20 years experience in Asia with a diverse professional background in journalism, advertising and public relations.
He joins HotelTravel.com from Paris-based Accor Hospitality, where he was Director PR & Communications – Asia since 2001 and responsible for a network of over 120 hotels in 12 countries.
He is also an experienced journalist and editor. Prior to joining Accor Mr Racette was the Bangkok Bureau Chief for Travel Trade Gazette Asia (TTG Asia) for 7 years, responsible for covering Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam and Myanmar. In 1998, London-based UN Miller Freeman appointed him Managing Editor of PATA Compass when the publication was re-launched in 1998.

According to Mr Speers, Tom Racette is HotelTravel.com’s third key executive announcement in the past two months and part of the company’s strategy to invest in top talent to remain competitive during tough economic times.
