New Book Reveals Secrets to Success for Dyslexic Children

Piraeus, Greece, May 30, 2009 --(PR.com)-- For children with learning disabilities such as dyslexia, going to school can be a nightmare. But a new children’s book is giving a sense of hope, confidence and self-worth to those who confront these challenges.

"Charlie: A Boy With Reading Difficulties and His Dream" (Outskirts Press) was written by an expert on learning disabilities to help youngsters and adults alike understand the life of a dyslexic person from a child’s point of view. The book follows nine-year-old Charlie, who is teased at school for his inability to concentrate on reading. The abuse contributes to feelings of depression and isolation, as well as low self-esteem and confidence.

Then, hope arrives in the form of someone close to him who understands--and, for the first time, explains how Charlie is different from other children and what he can do to boost his skills. In addition, Charlie learns how his differences set him apart in positive ways, too, so that his uniqueness becomes a treasure. What follows is a remarkable story of promise and inspiration.

Written in a chapter-book format and delightfully illustrated throughout, “Charlie” aims to help children with learning difficulties develop their talents, not focus on their setbacks or be hindered by others’ prejudices. But the magic is the book’s versatility: It’s just as appropriate for non-learning-disabled students to help them understand their peers, and is perfect for teachers to read to the entire class.

"Charlie: A Boy With Reading Difficulties and His Dream" is now available through Ingram, Baker & Taylor, Amazon.com, barnesandnoble.com, and the online bookstore of Outskirts Press, at outskirtspress.com/store.php.
