5th Anniversary for doctorfriedberg.com Web Site August 1, 2006

A recap of the highlights of this non-commercial, patient-oriented web site dedicated to informing the public of safer, simpler anesthesia with better results is provided on the 5th anniversary of its launch.

New York, NY, August 14, 2006 --(PR.com)-- Dr. Friedberg’s patient oriented web site has accomplished many milestones since its inception. The message of safer, simpler anesthesia with better outcomes has been received by tens of thousands of visitors, prospective patients, patients, the media, and dedicated anesthesia professionals from around the world.  The ‘world wide web’ has, indeed, delivered on its promise.

The majority of the international visitors came from the European Union, Australia, Canada, the U.K., Saudi Arabia, and Japan.  Thanks to the worldwide reach of the web, international visitors also came from the Cocos (Keeling) Islands (pop. 653), Sri Lanka, & Tahiti among many, many others.

Dr. Friedberg’s article ‘Minimally invasive anesthesia for minimally invasive surgery’ appeared on the pages of February 2004 Outpatient Surgery Magazine, a trade journal.  This article stimulated Dr. Friedberg to trademark ‘minimally invasive anesthesia (MIA)’® to have a convenient way to refer to BIS monitored PK MAC.  Normally, academic institutions, like the prestigious Karolinska Institute of Sweden only post articles on their web site from scientific, peer-reviewed journals.  To his pleasant surprise, Dr. Friedberg learned that the MIA® article had been posted on the Karolinska Institute web site.

In the summer of 2004, Dr. Friedberg was invited to lecture the Army at Brooke Army Hospital in San Antonio, Texas.  The Army was facing a dilemma that Dr. Friedberg’s technique was able to solve; namely, the ability to provide a safe anesthetic without an anesthesia machine or large supplies of oxygen.  Although the technique has been adopted for use in brain surgery at the base hospitals, it has found its greatest utility in the field hospitals for peripheral injuries (those not inside the belly, chest or head).

The summer of 2004 was also the time that Dr. Friedberg began writing the first, and only, textbook on anesthesia for cosmetic surgery.  Many colleagues have collaborated on what is expected to be a landmark publication.

Cambridge University Press will be publishing Anesthesia for Cosmetic Surgery in early 2007.  Web site readers will be able to order directly from the web site once the link to Cambridge is posted.

Attendees at the 2007 annual meeting of the European Society of Anaesthesia (ESA) in Munich, Germany will be able to visit with Dr. Friedberg and have their books autographed upon request at the Cambridge booth.  Attendees at the 2007 annual meeting of the Australian Society of Anaesthetists (ASA) in Perth will be able to visit with Dr. Friedberg and have their books autographed upon request at the Cambridge booth.  Attendees at the 2007 annual meeting of the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) in San Francisco will be able to visit with Dr. Friedberg and have their books autographed upon request at the Cambridge booth.  Attendees at the 2007 annual meeting of the Post Graduate Assembly (PGA) in New York City will be able to visit with Dr. Friedberg and have their books autographed upon request at the Cambridge booth.
