"Messy Tessy:" New Children’s Book Featuring a Charming Character That Enjoys Making a Mess -- Author Raises Money for Cystic Fibrosis Through Book Sales

Charming story about a little girl that enjoys making a mess while her babysitter takes a nap. Great gift for kids of all ages and also helps out a terrific charity, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Weston, FL, September 04, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Everyday, thousands of children are left in the care of a babysitter. Have you ever wondered what mischief a child could get into if the babysitter fell asleep?

Children’s Book author Leah Orr, is chronicling a day in the life of a new storybook character, Messy Tessy, a beautiful and fun-loving child with a great sense of adventure. Tessy takes full advantage of her babysitter’s nap and enjoys a few hours to make a mess during her unsupervised time. Parents, along with children of all ages, are sure to enjoy the mischief she creates for herself in this fun-filled page turner.

“While “Messy Tessy” is fiction, it is based loosely on my experiences of raising three girls and the numerous messes they’ve created along this journey called growing up,” said Orr. “From playing salon stylist and cutting their doll’s hair, to decorating our walls with their crayon drawings and creating havoc during mealtime, I used many of my children’s memories to delight the readers with Tessy’s silly antics.” According to Orr, not only did her children Aly, Camy, and Ashley assist her with the story, her mother, Josephine Lepore, was the illustrator.

“Messy Tessy” joins the bookshelf with Orr’s two other children’s books, “Kyle’s First Crush” and “Kyle’s First Playdate,” written to share the joy and importance of young love and great friendship, while at the same time briefly talk about Cystic Fibrosis (CF), a disease that affects many children, including Orr’s youngest daughter, as well as adults all over the world. Proceeds from the Kyle Series books and a portion of “Messy Tessy” are generously donated to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Between profits from Orr’s first two books and participation in local CF walks over the past 7 years, Orr has raised more than $400,000 for CF research. CF is an inherited chronic disease that affects the lungs and digestive system of nearly 70,000 children and adults worldwide and Orr’s personal goal is to not only raise awareness of the disease, but also raise $1,000,000.

“Messy Tessy” is available through Amazon.com. and Barnes and Noble.com. More information can be found at www.leahorr.com
