Artezio Passes ISO 9001:2008 Attestation

Artezio, Russia’s top software application development company, has passed ISO 9001-2008 attestation of its quality management system.

Moscow, Russia, September 27, 2009 --(PR.com)-- The audit was performed by Intercertifika-TÜV jointly with TÜV Thüringen, an international organization with extensive experience in ISO 9001 certification of management systems.

ISO 9000 is a family of standards for quality management systems. ISO 9000 is maintained by ISO, the International Organization for Standardization, and is administered by accreditation and certification bodies. The rules are updated, as the requirements motivate changes over time. ISO 9001-2008 includes a set of procedures that cover all key processes in the business; monitoring processes to ensure they are effective; keeping adequate records; checking output for defects, with appropriate and corrective action where necessary; regularly reviewing individual processes and the quality system itself for effectiveness and facilitating continual improvement. A company or organization that has been independently audited and certified to be in conformance with ISO 9001 may publicly state that it is "ISO 9001 certified" or "ISO 9001 registered". Certification to an ISO 9001 standard certifies that formalized business processes are being applied and is evidence of a high reliability level of the company.

In 2009 Artezio Quality Department put in extraordinary effort in streamlining the corporate Quality Management System (QMS). Changes were made to almost every item of the quality management documentation. Most of the documents were simplified and made consistent with the current project management practice. According to the auditors, this was the first time in their practice, when a company with a mature QMS had committed to such a change.

A need for a radical makeover of the QMS documentation was recognized during regular internal audits of project management practices performed in the past year. The audits demonstrated that although the QMS documentation fully covered all the ISO requirements, it was hard for employees to understand. Also it did not completely match agile software development methodologies (Scrum in particular) used in many Artezio projects.

As a result of the makeover, some documents have been discarded; others have been rewritten in plain language or replaced with graphics. The QMS documentation has become completely electronic and has been made accessible online for employees in all regional offices. The employees are encouraged to make comments and suggestions for further QMS improvement.

“We thank ‘Intercertifika-TÜV jointly with TÜV Thüringen’ for the professionally performed audit and high recognition of our efforts. The audit confirmed that our upgraded QMS completely complies with the ISO 9000:2008 requirements. Artezio stakeholders can expect improvements in process management and therefore more efficient and coordinated work of our project teams.” Pavel Adylin, Artezio CEO
