Alphonso X. Prince Shows There is No Adversity That Cannot be Overcome, No Dream That Cannot be Achieved in His Newest Book, Imagine Me, Published by Outskirts Press

Gary, IN, November 01, 2009 --(PR.com)-- In his latest book, Imagine Me, published by leading self-publisher Outskirts Press, Alphonso X. Prince tells the raw, but heartwarming story of the endless obstacles and incredible adversities he overcomes to become a man of deep compassion. He movingly chronicles his horrific youth, his acceptance of the grace and love of his Savior, Jesus Christ, and his ultimate, courageous achievement of his goals.

Born into a fatherless, poverty stricken family, Alphonso found himself smoking weed and drinking alcohol with his own mother by the time he was five years old. He had already learned how to cook, not because he wanted to, but because someone in the family had to. By six he had been molested and introduced into the world of sex by his cousin. He would collect cans, sell old pop bottles, go swimming to retrieve lost golf balls, catch and sell crayfish, and even beg and steal so that there was enough money to feed his brother and two sisters.

At eight years old his life changed even more dramatically when his family was split up and he was placed in a series of foster homes. He endured an abusive foster mother, had to learn how to survive blatant racism in college, ended up temporarily homeless, and finally suffered a mild heart attack.

Yet somehow through all this, he never gave up, never accepted any reason to fail or to not try, never permanently waivered from the pursuit of his dreams. The story of his courage and perseverance is inspirational and teaches that one can be whatever one chooses to be, no matter what situation one is born into.

Appropriately subtitled Playing the Hand You’re Dealt…and Winning, Imagine Me goes on to show Mr. Prince’s success in life as a Christian, as a father, as an author, and as a chef.

“There are low spots in our lives, but there are also high spots, and most of them have come through encouragement from someone else,” Mr. Prince has said.

Imagine Me provides its readers with that kind of encouragement.
