Galveston, TX, November 08, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Hotel Galvez will host a free holiday event during its second annual Holiday Lighting Celebration on Friday, Nov. 27 from 6 to 8 p.m. Due to popular response to last year’s event, the hotel decided to make this an annual tradition at the historic hotel. This celebration will feature a special visit by Santa Claus, holiday entertainment by Brenham Children’s Chorus, Bayou City Pipes and Drums, Galveston Ballet and Galveston College Choir, as well as holiday greetings by Galveston Mayor Lyda Ann Thomas, and a special appearance by Queen Victoria extending her formal invitation to the upcoming Dickens on The Strand. Hotel Galvez is also collecting new, unwrapped toys for the Marine Toys for Tots campaign during the event.

Festivities begin at 6 p.m. with the arrival of Santa Claus by carriage. Guests are invited to take pictures with Santa, sing carols and enjoy holiday entertainment during the evening. The highlight of the evening will be the moment when the Mayor hits the switch to officially light up the hotel for the holiday season. Festivities will take place on the front lawn of the hotel.

As part of the event, Executive Chef Jerry Helminski will unveil his holiday gingerbread display – a gingerbread replica of the Hotel Galvez, while the lobby bar will feature holiday specialty drinks. The event is free to the public and sponsored by Mitchell Historic Properties and Hotel Galvez & Spa.

Santa Claus will make additional special appearances at the hotel’s Sunday Brunch with Santa on Dec. 6, 13 and 20, where guests are invited to have their pictures taken with Santa. During the month of December, the hotel’s live entertainment will take on a holiday theme on Fridays and Saturdays from 5 to 10 p.m. and Sundays, from 11 am to 2 p.m.
