Urban American Outdoors Wins KCABJ Media Award

Kansas City Association of Black Journalist presented Urban American Outdoors with Broadcast Award.

Kansas City, MO, November 29, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Wayne Hubbard and Candice Price of Urban America Outdoors have been honored with a Broadcast award in the 18th Annual Kansas City Association of Black Journalists Media Awards. A ceremony for all honorees was held Saturday, Nov. 21, 2009 at the Kansas City Star’s Pavilion in Kansas City, Missouri. These awards are given to Media Professionals who project and present positive images of people of color. Wayne Hubbard Producer/Host of the Urban American Outdoors stated “It is such an honor to be able to tell the story of the Buffalo Soldier who was our Original Homeland Security. If it was not for the distinguished duty of service performed by the Buffalo Soldier and Black Seminole Indian Scouts, there would not have been groups later like the Tuskegee Airmen or the 761 Black Tank Battalion to carry on the exemplary tradition of service.” The Kansas City Association of Black Journalist first got their start when “Black journalists in Kansas City met on Dec. 5, 1981, and forged an enduring organization that would enable members to come together for fellowship and to pool their resources to benefit themselves collectively and to better serve the community. The professional organization they created helped strengthen the ties among print, broadcast and electronic media journalists.” Urban American Outdoors (UAO) is produced by Urban American Productions which is based out of Kansas City. UAO airs weekly on Time Warner’s Metro Sports, and on various Broadcast affiliates across the US and Internationally. Urban American Outdoors is a television program created by avid outdoorsman and businessman Wayne Hubbard and Candice Price. It is a reality sports adventure show that depicts the Outdoor Lifestyle from a different perspective. UAO has mass cross over appeal reaching the traditional outdoors market and the underserved communities. The show not only shares the enjoyment of being outdoors, it also educates and tells the importance of conservation, cultural and historical travel and preserving the heritage of all Outdoors sports.
