Explore Beyond Hanoi with New Bicycle Tour from SpiceRoads

SpiceRoads Cycling Tours introduces a new excursion to the countryside surrounding Vietnam’s capital city and explores a side of Hanoi that’s well off the beaten path.

Bangkok, Thailand, December 19, 2009 --(PR.com)-- With SpiceRoads' newest excursion visitors will be able to leave the chaos of Hanoi behind for a day as they cycle along the Red River and through the countryside surrounding Vietnam’s capital city.

Suited for all riders, including families, the Hanoi day tour explores alleys, the banks of the Red River, passes by flower and vegetable gardens, village lanes and alongside lotus lakes to give you a whole new perspective of the city. The ride meanders around West Lake and stops at one of the most revered Buddhist pagodas in Vietnam. Cyclists will be surprised at how little traffic they’ll encounter as they explore a side of Hanoi that’s well off the beaten path.

See where the real Hanoi lives as you peek into open doors and see families preparing for the day, cycle past children on their way to school and see what’s for sale and to eat from the various street stalls. A small local ferry takes riders across the Red River to cycle on a dyke path. After a leisurely ride by small gardens grown on the fertile banks of the river, the tour crosses back over at Thang Long Bridge and a local lunch at a charming riverside café.

After lunch the tour heads to the north side of West Lake, the largest of many lakes in the city. Riding past lotus gardens the route along the water’s edge heads to one of the most revered Buddhist pagodas in Vietnam -- Tran Quoc Pagoda. After a visit the return ride is through quiet back streets of colonial architecture.

The cycling is 40 kilometers on very minor roads, a dyke pathway, through alleys, and villages. There’ll be plenty of opportunities for taking photos and just taking in the wonderful scenery. Cyclists won’t believe they are so close to Hanoi.

The Hanoi Explorer tour is USD 75 per person and pick up at 8:30 am and drop off at 4 pm to Hanoi hotels by minivan is included, as are refreshments, lunch, a mountain bike and helmet. The tour departs every day with a minimum of two people. Children 12-16 receive a 25% discount.
