New York, NY, February 18, 2010 --(PR.com)-- International economist Arun Motianey will be making the first public appearance for his just released book “SuperCycles” at the New York Investing meetup on February 23rd. Dr. Motianey will first give a talk on his innovative new work about the Credit Crisis and its aftermath and will then be interviewed by Daryl Montgomery, blogger for the popular ‘Helicopter Economics Investing Guide’. The author will then sign copies of his book.

Readers will find that “SuperCycles” is a compelling mixture of economics, finance, policy, risk management, and investment advice from a global perspective. Motianey uses the term supercycles to represent the long waves of boom and bust that undulate through the global economic and financial system. These are unfailingly the result of policymakers’ well intentioned but misguided attempts to achieve price stability. Drawing heavily on history and a wide range of economic thought, Motianey critiques the way macroeconomics has been practiced by the major powers’ central banks and provides a new organizing principle with which to understand the global economy and a detailed and provocative explanation of the forces sweeping through it. “SuperCycles” then examines the three possible outcomes of the Credit Crisis - inflation, inflation with indexation, and deflation.

The New York Investing meetup, with 2500 members, is the largest investing meetup in the world. The group frequently hosts top authors and well-known figures in the investing field. The group accurately predicted the beginning of the Credit Crisis, the bear market in stocks, and the recent recession. It was cited by Dutch Radio as the only investing group that consistently made profitable investment recommendations during the difficult market times between 2007 and 2009.

Before embarking on his writing career Arun Motianey was managing director and head of macro research and strategy at Citigroup Global Wealth Management, the head of investment research, and chief emerging markets strategist. At one point he was liaison between the bank and the International Monetary Fund. Motianey studied mathematics and economics and received his PhD from Cambridge University.

The event will be held at PS 41 at 116 West 11th Street on Tuesday, February 23rd from 6:45 - 8:45PM and is open to the public. More information can be found at the New York Investing meetup’s website: http://investing.meetup.com/21.

This event is not sponsored by, nor does the New York Investing meetup or Arun Motianey have any association with, the NYC Department of Education.
