FEWJapan: Women's Executive Organization Holds Afghanistan Charity Benefit: Brownies and Books

On Saturday, February 20, 2010, bring and swap your unwanted books, DVDs & CDs and join members and friends of FEW (For Empowering Women in Japan) in a book/DVD/CD swap meet and brownies benefit for girls schools in Afghanistan.

Proceeds of ticket and product sales will go through JEN/BOOMAGIC, a BookOff program supporting NGOs. Selected CDs, DVDs and books will be sold to benefit NGO projects: to date, this program has raised more than 11.5million yen for JEN school projects in the Sudan and Afghanistan.

The minimum donation of ¥1000 includes a beverage and a homemade brownie: the perfect way to warm up in February for great company and a great cause.

FEW President, Julia Maeda, notes: "Come warm up a wintry Saturday, clear some space in your home and find books, CDs and DVDs you've been searching for. Add in warm conversation, hot drinks and a scrumptious brownie, and it's the perfect way to enjoy your Saturday afternoon!"

Bookoff will sell most Japanese books, art books in some languages, language study books and recent travel guides. They will only accept Region 2 DVDs and most CDs. DVDS and CDs should be in their cases. They do not accept videotapes. All other items can be swapped with others or taken home, including periodicals, booklets and journals.
