The Mischievous Hare, Published by Outskirts Press, is a Heartwarming Coming-of-Age Tale

Hollister, CA, February 22, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Veteran bunny aficionado Darien Summers has released his first children’s book, The Mischievous Hare, published by Outskirts Press, an illustrated tale of the adventures of Patches, an adorable fun loving bunny with a passion for trouble. This coming-of-age story for boys and girls bubbles over with adventure, love, danger, and responsibility, as well.

Author Darien Summers uses his years of experience living with and taking care of bunnies to concoct a delightful tale for children six to ten about the antics and adventures of Patches and Fuzzy Cakes as they try to outwit Mr. Tidy, a crotchety landlord who wants to rid his apartment complex of all things fuzzy and furry.

Summers’ purpose is not only to entertain, but also to instruct beginning readers in the rigors and responsibilities of raising a bunny, as well as to show them the joy and satisfaction of having a pet of their own.

Carefully composed with a selection of some few words that are just slightly ahead of these youngsters’ reading levels, the author has designed The Mischievous Hare to open up his young readers’ minds by furthering their vocabulary and expanding their mental horizons with new concepts.

The simple, but provocative line drawings of artist Bryan Proehl have also been chosen to tickle these young readers’ growing imaginations and have been used in contrast to the sometimes flashy, glossy color images that Summers has noticed can dull a child’s mind.

The Mischievous Hare is available on-line in paperback through Amazon and Barnes and Noble and at www.outskirtspress.com/buybooks for a maximum trade discount in quantities of ten or more.
