Mindgrub on Panel for Tech Focus Seminar-Mobile Apps as/for a Business

Mindgrub Technologies featured in Business Week for participation in the latest Chesapeake Regional Tech Council Tech Focus Seminar on mobile applications.

Baltimore, MD, February 26, 2010 --(PR.com)-- The Chesapeake Regional Tech Council (CRTC) hosted an event January 21st 2010 called, Tech Focus Seminar-Mobile Apps as/for a Business. The event was held at Anne Arundel Community College in Arnold, MD. The panel consisted of David Troy, Michael Ryan, Elliot Hamilton, Catharine McNally and Mindgrub’s very own, Todd Marks.

Mobile apps are becoming increasingly popular with businesses trying to keep up in the digital era. You may ask yourself, “How can my company benefit by developing or using mobile apps?” Others may wonder whether their company even needs a mobile app. These were some of the questions that the seminar was brought about to provide answers for. The panel of speakers were able to discuss exactly what’s involved in going mobile and how each of them were able to utilize the mobile app buzz to bring success to their own business. They also discussed where the business of mobile apps is headed and how other businesses can make the most of this opportunity. Business Week quoted Todd Marks in an article titled 'Local businesses get creative with mobile device 'apps''. In the article Marks discussed the importance of mobile apps and reiterated that “The competition becomes less about the uniqueness of the app's idea itself than the quality and reliability of the technology. At any given time, dozens of developers could be designing programs that serve the very same purpose.”

In terms of answering the question of whether your company needs a mobile iPhone app, Todd reiterated much of the information which was featured in a November 2009 article about him in the Baltimore Business Journal. The article was titled ‘Should Your Company have an iPhone App?’ He explained how iPhone apps are, “More of a marketing ploy than anything,” and pointed out how the primary benefits of using these apps can simply be for the company to appear ‘cutting edge’ and ‘modern.’

The Chesapeake Regional Tech Council (CRTC) is the area’s fastest-growing tech organization. As one of the panel members, Todd Marks was able to offer valuable insight about the current uses of mobile apps by businesses.
