Hedo to Liquidate BettyM’s Marge Carson Furniture Inventory
Marge Carson,US manufacturer of high end upholstery and occasional furniture, has partnered with Hedo Furniture in Chicago, IL to liquidate all of its remaining pieces from the now closed Merchandise Mart showroom of Betty M.
Chicago, IL, March 14, 2010 --(PR.com)-- After 25 years as a staple in the Chicago Merchandise Mart, the Betty M furniture showroom has closed. All remaining Marge Carson inventory from the Betty M collection, has been transferred to Hedo Furniture for immediate liquidation on behalf of Marge Carson.
Founded in 1947, Marge Carson, Inc. manufactures high-end residential furniture, including upholstery, bedrooms, dining rooms, occasional pieces and accessories. Today the California-based company is one of the world's leading privately-held upper-end wood and upholstery manufacturers.
Marge Carson furniture is sold only through select fine retail stores and designer showrooms to trade. The Betty M showroom was one of the primary carriers in the Merchandise Mart of Marge Carson. For decades Betty Menna and her namesake showroom “The Betty M Collection” was an anchor on the 16th floor of the Merchandise Mart, attracting designers worldwide.
Hedo Furniture, “Hedo” is an acronym for High End Designer Outlet, opened in Chicago in July 2009 and has quickly established itself as a destination for designers and end customers seeking deep discounts on medium high and high end furniture. Hedo acquires its pieces from designer showroom samples, canceled special orders and un-used returns and then sells the pieces 60% to 80% below retail.
“The tough economy and the trend away from ‘overspending’ by even very affluent consumers has really put a lot of stress on the retailers of high end furniture” says Elaine Odeh, general manager. “Then when these designer showrooms close, manufacturer’s really don’t want to incur the cost to ship everything back to their warehouse where all they will do is store it again. That is where we come in. We save the manufactures the cost of transporting and storing the goods, so in turn we pay much less than regular wholesale. This allows us to offer the best quality furniture and seriously reduced prices.”
