Jason Craighead Featured in "Artist Galleries & Artists of the South"
Raleigh, NC, November 22, 2006 --(PR.com)-- The work of abstract expressionist Jason Craighead of Raleigh is featured in the current edition of Art Galleries & Artists of the South, a journal of fine art and fine art galleries published by Woodson Publishing, Inc., of Birmingham, Alabama.

Craighead’s two-page spread includes images of five of his most recent paintings, from the 36”x36” Growth to the 63”x66” White Composition.

“When creating work, I am only concerned with the process, focusing on compositional math,” the artist is quoted as saying, “layering canvas with ashy to opaque acrylics and making very subtle to very heavy marks with pencils, pastels, etc… My work is not about emotion or story telling in the now. It is more about creating a body of work that will evolve, grow and change over my lifetime.”

The journal’s high production quality allows readers a remarkable view of the visual and physical depth of Craighead’s paintings, which evolve from layers of acrylic, oil pastel and graphite on canvas and paper.

Considered one of the South’s leading abstract expressionists, Jason Craighead, 35, has developed a strong patron base among regional and national corporations and private collectors (including former Senator John Edwards) from Raleigh to Los Angeles. His work is currently represented in Broadhurst Gallery in Pinehurst, New Elements Gallery in Wilmington, and Center of the Earth Gallery in Charlotte.
