On Site Energy® Provides Temporary Cooling to Statue of Liberty National Monument

On Site Energy® (OSEC) was selected by the National Parks Service’s Statue of Liberty National Monument to provide 2 – 20 ton portable air conditioning units. The two units will be utilized to cool the gift shop and food service areas while new facilities are constructed. The rental units will remain in place throughout the summer season to keep visitors cool & comfortable.

Liberty Island, NY, May 26, 2010 --(PR.com)-- The units were installed Monday, May 17, 2010 and were operational by noon to the delight of island visitors. On Site’s Mike Sparandera commented on the job, "People don’t realize how difficult it is to work on an island, we made a video of the install from the truck to Ellis Island to the Statue of Liberty, reminiscent of the movie Trains, Planes and Automobiles where sometimes it’s very hard to just get from point A to B. But that is what we do, we specialize in overcoming obstacles that other rental companies find insurmountable."

The island can become very crowded with an estimated 4.2 million visitors a year and all heavy work that can interfere with tourists needs to be done outside of normal visiting hours with only the least obtrusive work being performed while visitors are on the island. Joe Gere also with On Site Energy® pointed out, “I let my son Alex play hooky from school today to come with us, he was first up in the Statue of Liberty and first on Ellis Island to see when his great grandfather Sandor arrived as a young boy while crossing on the Carpathia, the ship made famous for picking up the Titanic survivors.”

The Statue of Liberty Enlightening the World was a gift of friendship from the people of France to the people of the United States and is a universal symbol of freedom and democracy. The Statue of Liberty was dedicated on October 28, 1886, designated as a National Monument in 1924 and restored for her centennial on July 4, 1986. Together with Ellis Island they make up the Statue of Liberty National Monument. Ellis’s main building re-opened again on September 10, 1990 as a national museum of immigration.
