BackwoodsInventions.com Posts Gaetan Beauchamp’s Custom, Hand-made Knives

Maumelle, AR, June 14, 2010 --(PR.com)-- BackwoodsInventions.com recently announced its agreement with Gaetan Beauchamp of Quebec, Canada to market and sell Beauchamp’s custom, handmade knives.

Beauchamp first developed a passion for scrimshaw, the art of carving intricate designs into a natural material, such as ivory or horn. While traditional scrimshaw involves carving into a light-colored material, this artist also mastered reverse scrimshaw, a much more difficult method, which uses a dark-colored material like water-buffalo horn, for example. Eventually, Beauchamp developed his knifemaking skills so he could provide a complete product. His knives and scrimshaw have been featured in multiple trade magazines and have won awards, including the Judges’ Award in Detroit and the Prix coup de coeur in Cannes, France, both in 1995.

BackwoodsInventions.com is committed to offering its customers true custom, hand-made knives. That being the case, buyers may view several samples of Beauchamp’s past work, but when they place an order they must specify certain options, such as the blade material and the object to be scrimshawed. Buyers often choose an animal they enjoy hunting—a duck, turkey or deer—or one they admire for its strength or beauty. Each knife comes with a leather sheath, handcrafted by Beauchamp's wife, Denise Bryar.
