Kansas City, MO, October 10, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Peterson & Associates, P.C. is dedicated to helping patients who have suffered heart damage associated with the use of Meridia®.

The obesity drug, Meridia®, has been withdrawn due to a potential increased risk of heart attack or stroke, as requested by the FDA.

Abbott Laboratories voluntarily agreed to pull Meridia® off of U.S. shelves after an FDA request. According to Dr. John Jenkins from the FDA, "FDA requested this withdrawal after concluding that the continued availability of this product is not justified since patients taking the drug are at an increased risk of suffering a heart attack or stroke."

If you or someone you know has suffered from Meridia®, please contact them at www.meridialegalhelp.com or by calling 877-378-4442 for a Free Case Review.

The FDA also said, "Physicians are advised to stop prescribing Meridia® to their patients, pharmacists are advised to stop dispensing Meridia® , and patients are advised to stop taking this drug and dispose of any remaining product."

At a news briefing, an FDA representative stated that 100,000 people in the U.S. take Meridia® and that it requested Meridia's withdrawal because the "very modest weight loss" from taking the drug didn't justify its risk of heart attack or stroke.

Peterson & Associates, P.C. is determined to get justice for the victims of Meridia® and to seek compensation for their suffering. For more information about your legal rights, visit www.meridialegalhelp.com
