Intermodal Rail Shows Signs of Growth Due to Greener Travel

San Diego, CA, October 13, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Supply Chain Digital reports that intermodal rail is making a strong comeback as customers turn to rail freight as a greener and cheaper way of transporting goods.

In the October issue of the magazine, reporter Liz Wells charts the rise of intermodal rail, despite the ongoing effects of the recession.

Wells spoke to Ian Logan, Managing Director of Formula Freight Europe, who believes that European rail infrastructure has improved. He puts forward the argument for rail freight in this issue’s cover story – ‘How Intermodal Rail Made a Comeback’.

Also in the magazine, John O’Hanlon reveals why managing quality is vital to an outsourcing in ‘Managing Outsourced Quality’.

The use of Lean Principles in purchasing is also under the spotlight as Supply Chain Digital discovers how to implement this business system.

Following the opening of the world’s largest cold store in the UK earlier this year, Supply Chain Digital spoke to Ray Perry, Managing Director of Partner Logistics, which operates the facility, to learn about the ‘Key Features of the Cold Store’.

Finally, Douglas Mathie and Mark Stapleton get opinionated in the Legal and Economics columns respectively.
