EndoSoft Passes IHE Connecthathon Standards Testing

EndoSoft GI procedure application has successfully passed all required testing during the IHE North American Connectathon held in Chicago, IL on January 17th – 20th 2011. EndoSoft, LLC is the first endoscopy software vendor in North America to join Integrated Healthcare Enterprise (IHE) and adopt its standards.

Schenectady, NY, February 09, 2011 --(PR.com)-- EndoSoft tested in the Information Technology Infrastructure (ITI) and Patient Care Coordination (PCC) domains as the Document Source actor of medical content. In an XDS.B Provide and Register profile, the EndoSoft GI procedure and image management system successfully sent a procedure note to the Repository, where it registered with the Registry. A viewer via the internet acts as the Document Consumer allowing queries of patient procedure notes and other forms from the Repository worldwide.

This interoperability of discrete medical systems has been a high priority of Australian, European, and American government’s initiatives for adoption. The 2009 HITECH ACT in the US currently promotes adoption of “meaningful use” certified interoperable Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems. Health Information Exchanges (HIE) are being deployed in every state in order for patient medical records to be easily and securely accessed and shared between all stakeholders in delivery of patient care.

Eventually, a Nationwide Healthcare Information Exchange (NHIN) will have the capacity to distribute and share medical data and images between discrete medical systems, between state (HIE) and Regional Health Information Organizations (RHIO’s), and research from organizations likethe Centers for Medicare (CMS). All will be able to aggregate the data in the “network of networks”.

In addition to GI, all EndoSoft applications including, Urology, ENT, Pulmonology, Orthopedics, OB/GYN, Cardiology, General Surgery, and Pain Management have the ability to send procedure note and other forms in a HL7 CDA R2 or CCD structured documents with metadata. At the IHE N.A. Connectathon, Endosoft passed consuming and querying PIX and PDQ for patient demographics; ATNA for secure logging of transactions; CT for sequencingtime; XDS_MS for sending medical summaries in structured format; XDS_SD for sending PDF/Text of procedure note, or other forms; XDR for direct peer-to-peer communication between discrete systems without a repository over the internet. In addition, EndoSoft uses XDR to send procedure note directly to other EHR's to consume, or to NHIN to distribute.

These specialty and departmental specific software applications can be used to create an Enterprise-wide solution in an Integrated Delivery Network (IDN) and hospitals with IHE standards.

Endosoft, LLC will be demonstrating Use Case 33 (Improving Care Follow-up After GI Endoscopy Procedure) with IHE standards of XDS_SD for procedure note and XDS-I for DICOM images at the HIMSS Interoperability Showcase in Orlando, FL on February 21st -24th.
