FlexiDry Offers a Screeding Solution for Rivergate School, Barking

The 14 day dry FlexiDry F2 Fiberscreed has been chosen to be installed over 5500sm of underfloor heating for the Rivergate School. The primary school is part of the first phase of the eco- friendly Barking Riverside Project. FlexiDry offers a screeding solution with its quick drying time and also by acting as the complement for underfloor heating, reducing thermal losses and improving energy efficiency.

High Wycombe, United Kingdom, June 22, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Rivergate School, the first school of the Barking Riverside development will have 5500sm of its underfloor heating screeded with FlexiDry’s 14 day dry F2 Fiberscreed. The three form entry school is part of the first phase of the £3.5 billion Barking Riverside Project.

Barking Riverside which is a joint venture between the Homes and Communities Agency and Bellway plc is being constructed on 150 acres of brownfield along the North bank of Thames. The community will have a mix of housing types and tenures and will have its own facilities for health care, local transport, shopping and leisure.

Upon completion the eco friendly urban riverside community development will house around 10,800 homes and 26,000 people. It is also expected to act as a link reconnecting neighbourhoods that are north of the A13 with the River Thames.

The Rivergate school and the rest of the community centre is being constructed on a priority basis to ensure that the community facilities are in place by the time the residential units are ready for occupation. The school is designed by award winning architects, Van Heyningan and Haward, and will have eco-friendly green roofs and beautifully landscaped grounds with reed beds designed to encourage wild life. Only sustainable building materials are employed for construction within the nature friendly development.

With the focus now shifting to eco-friendly and energy efficient construction, FlexiDry is very much in demand by most major builders. FlexiDry acts as the perfect complement for underfloor heating by serving as a thermal conductor, reducing energy losses and bringing down the energy required for the heating system. It is found to be 20-30 % more efficient as a thermal conductor when compared to normal anhydrite screeds.

FlexiDry fast drying floor screeds also help to eliminate the unnecessary use of polythene. When normal screeds need to be cured with polythene sheets for a week after its installation, FlexiDry does not require this time consuming procedure. In addition, the long waiting periods of nearly 110 days are no longer necessary with the quick drying FlexiDry screeds (drying times range from 3 days to 21 days), making it the ideal choice for projects that require quick completion.
