Think-a-lot Toys Introduces A Beginning Storytelling Game: Story Speller Uses Words, Images and the Alphabet to Teach the Art of Storytelling

Boulder, CO, June 29, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Help! An asteroid just hit the Earth causing tarantulas to run wild. What happens next? That is up to the kids who take up the storytelling challenge in Story Speller, the newest game from Think-a-lot Toys. Story Speller shows that every kid can be a good storyteller if given the right tools. In fact, they benefit socially and intellectually when given the chance.

Think-a-lot Toys released this beginning storytelling game as part of their growing collection of games that focus on storytelling, imagination and creativity. Story Speller provides kids with 78 key story element cards with delightfully diverse words and images, ten heroes and heroines, and a story board for their story to come to life on. All kids need to add is their active imagination, which for youngsters comes naturally.

Fostering imagination in our kids is an important task. As Eric Liu and Scott Noppe-Brandon, Executive Director of Lincoln Center Institute, prove in their popular book Imagination First, developing and cultivating imagination is vital if we are to meet the challenges of the modern world.

Story Speller was designed by, Colleen McCarthy-Evans, a well known game designer out of Santa Barbara, California, in collaboration with Think-a-lot Toys. She brings years of past expertise along with her success in the wildly popular game she co-designed, "In a Pickle," which has sold over a million copies. Story Speller has all the elements of continuing this success by providing kids with the building blocks for telling a good story—and for having tons of fun in the process. In our digital age, there is still a great need for the art of storytelling. Teaching this art to kids at an early age is an important task and Story Speller meets this need.

Story Speller will be available nationwide in stores starting in July. Think-a-lot Toys products are carried nationally at specialty toy retailers, book, gift, museum, and general stores all across the country including large outlets such as: Learning Express, AreYouGame, Amazon.com, ToysRUs, Sears.com, and Geppetto’s.

Think-a-lot Toys is a socially responsible toy company that makes the award-winning Think-ets games of imaginative play. The company was founded in 2007 after Randy Compton came up with an idea of putting miniature items into a pouch and turning it into a fun and entertaining game for kids and parents. At the International Toy Fair in New York in February 2008, Think-ets was listed as the top game/toy for the entire show by the toy reviewer at About.com. By then, Think-ets had already won five awards and was on its way to being a best seller. The company now has twelve products in its line of “toys and games that make you think” including StoryPlay Cards and now Story Speller.

Our mission is to create open-ended toys and games that provide entertainment, joy, and learning while stimulating imagination, memory and interpersonal and intrapersonal intelligence.
