Voices.com Platinum Member, Debbie Irwin, Co-Narrates Incessant Visions

Debbie Irwin contributes to a powerful documentary through narration, unfolding the story of a man who influenced some of today's most innovative architects.

New York, NY, July 21, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Voice over actress and Voices.com member, Debbie Irwin, has been working with Duki Dror on his new documentary, Incessant Visions, an homage to the life of German Jewish Expressionist architect, Erich Mendelsohn.

As Nazism expanded out of Germany, Mendelsohn fled, carrying his career through England, Israel, and finally to the Bay area, where he taught at UC Berkeley. Mendelsohn was influenced by Franz Marc and the Blue Rider group; his own work proved influential to architects of his time, like Frank Lloyd Wright, to some of today’s most innovative architects like Frank Ghery, and Daniel Libeskind.

His design is revered and can be seen around the world from the Einstein Tower, Schocken department stores, Universum Cinema in Germany; the Mt. Scopus Campus of Hadassah Hospital and the Weitzman House in Israel; to many private homes and a hospital in the San Francisco Bay area.

The story is told through correspondence between Mendelsohn and his wife, Luise, an accomplished cellist, whose voice Irwin narrates. “As a director, working with Debbie has 'broadened the canvas' and expanded the dramatic latitude that I could use in my film,” said Dror.

"This project and the character development of Louise Mendelsohn evolved over time,” Irwin recalls. “It was a great opportunity to show the powerful influence she had in her husband's work and career. As they say, behind every great man...."

Dror uses contemporary images and modern reflections of Mendelsohn's work to illuminate the significance of his life and the timelessness of his design.

Incessant Visions will premier in the US on Thursday July 28th at the San Francisco Jewish Film Festival.
