Software Europe Takes Expenses Claims to Downing Street

Distance verification service from Postcode Anywhere an integral part of new expenses claims software.

Worcester, United Kingdom, July 23, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Web-based application supplier Software Europe is confident it can ease the Government’s expenses woes this week, after visiting Downing Street to pitch its expenses claims software.

The online tool, which includes features from Postcode Anywhere’s web-based Distances and Directions service, was shortlisted from over 350 proposals in the Cabinet Office’s Innovation Launch Pad initiative earlier this month.

The aim of Innovation Launch Pad is to help small-medium businesses promote their specialist services to the public sector - with a view to saving Government money. Software Europe’s service is already helping NHS Trusts manage their expenses claims online.

James Thompson, Business Development Manager for Software Europe, said: “Travel and expenses are one of the highest costs to NHS organisations. Our answer to that is an automated claims system which is straightforward for Trusts to implement. We know we’ve achieved this from experience - forty NHS Trusts and over 80,000 NHS professionals are already using Expenses NHS. Moreover, the initial costs are recouped in just eight weeks, with the Royal Berkshire Hospital saving £98,000 in the first ten months alone since implementing our computer-based system.

“Government has a clear target of procuring 25% of its services from SMEs, and the Innovation Launch Pad has given us the opportunity to go straight to the top. We feel our services were exceptionally well-received, and this is in no small part thanks to Postcode Anywhere’s distance validation service, which has made a big difference to the fuel claim process in our expense management software.

“Because of scalability, dependability and ease of implementation, Postcode Anywhere’s range of services makes online application development faster and more reliable.”

Postcode Anywhere’s sales and marketing director Phil Rothwell said: “Software Europe’s expenses claim management system demonstrates how web-based services can bring considerable cost savings and efficiencies to the public sector. It also shows how useful Postcode Anywhere’s suite of online services can be for software application developers.

“The internet, relatively mature now, is a reliable utility like gas or water. What it brings is scope for rapidly rolling out flexible services across an entire organisation – even if that organisation is as large and complex as the NHS. It’s past the time for dipping toes in the water. This kind of proven technology needs to be embraced if this country is going to make a sustainable economic recovery and claw back the deficit.”

Minister for the Cabinet Office Francis Maude said: “This Government does not believe there is a one-size-fits-all approach to delivering services. That is why we want to make it easy for small businesses to tell us their ideas, as they will have a vital role to play in helping us to find new, innovative and more cost effective ways to improve services to the public.”
