DirectBuy of Pittsburgh Owners Come Up Big for St. Teresa of Avila School

Doug and Peggy Barrante, owners of DirectBuy of Pittsburgh North in Cranberry and DirectBuy of Pittsburgh East in Monroeville, recently helped the St. Teresa of Avila school purchase some much-needed auditorium chairs and other furnishings at a significant discount.

Merrillville, IN, October 02, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Doug and Peggy Barrante, owners of DirectBuy of Pittsburgh North in Cranberry and DirectBuy of Pittsburgh East in Monroeville, recently helped the St. Teresa of Avila school purchase some much-needed auditorium chairs and other furnishings at a significant discount.

Doug and Peggy are also proud parents of two St. Teresa students - their son Luke is in sixth grade and their daughter Ava is a first-grader – so when they heard the school had a need for some much-needed equipment, they jumped at the opportunity to combine their passion for philanthropy with the valuable service DirectBuy offers.

"The school only paid a third of the retail value for this new furniture, thanks to the efforts of the Barrante family,” explained Principal Sister Karen Brink. “They allowed us to amplify the gifts made to the Second Century Fund, stretching our donations much further. We greatly appreciate the fact that the Barrantes approached us with this incredible offer.”

When the Barrantes approached the Advancement Committee at St. Teresa, they initially offered to provide the furniture at the same price DirectBuy members receive, but Doug and Peggy went a step further by working with the manufacturer directly to secure an additional 25 percent discount. Thanks to the generosity of the Barrantes as well as the contributions from the manufacturer, St. Teresa’s was able to not only purchase 400 new chairs for Henninger Auditorium, but also had enough to buy a complete set of bookshelves and storage cabinets for Tobin Library.

“If your business, relationships, or talents can be put to service for other people, that’s always a great feeling,” said Doug. “We’re happy we had the chance to help these improvements come to life, for the benefit of St. Teresa’s current and future students.”
