)-- Grimes Trucking Company (GTC) today launched its new nationwide trucking service, “Grimes Across America,” with a special ribbon cutting ceremony at its Jacksonville headquarters. Established 35 years ago as a local and regional transportation provider, GTC today is a subsidiary of The Grimes Companies and now brings owner-operators together with top quality management and support staff to offer a superior coast-to-coast trucking operation. “Grimes Across America represents our first step in establishing a national presence in the industry,” said The Grimes Company President Michael O’Leary. “In 2006 we committed to our clients that we would continue to advance new lines of service to meet their needs. This is another move forward to fulfill that commitment.”
Ike Sherlock, GTC Director of Fleet Operations, expanded upon the announcement: “We have built a stellar reputation based upon safety and service; these are the key elements we want to be known for on the national level and are the cornerstones of our success. That is why we are so selective in building relationships with those owner-operators who epitomize the same level of professional performance.” Sherlock joined the Grimes team in late 2006 as part of the move to position the company’s trucking division to better support both the existing client base and the anticipated increased needs that will be generated by the new Mitsui terminal scheduled to open in Jacksonville’s port in 2008.
Combined with the creation of several new positions designed to support the “Grimes Across America” initiative, TGC has fully implemented a new state-of-the-art transportation management system (announced in June, 2006) to coordinate and optimize much of the nationwide activity. “All of this is essential to providing top quality, reliable transportation services to our clients and ensures our primary focus remains on the safety of our operators and the public,” added O’Leary.
The Grimes Companies, through its subsidiaries, operates both public and contract warehouses in Florida and Maryland, as well as providing transportation and packaging services to its clients. FileSafe, Inc., another subsidiary, offers document storage services to Northeast Florida businesses.
