Maybank-MoneyTree Young Entrepreneur Startup (YES) Challenge (Season 4) – Breakthrough 2 Session

15 Teams battled for survival against brutal scrutiny of judges with hopes to move on to the next stage of YES 4.

Petaling Jaya, Malaysia, March 09, 2012 --( The Maybank MoneyTree Young Entrepreneur Startup (YES) 4 BreakThrough 2 Session was organized by MoneyTree last Saturday (3rd March, 2012) at Lecture Theatre 20, Taylor’s University (Lakeside Campus). 15 teams consisting of young budding entrepreneurs competed against each other in an intense battle for a chance to move on to the next stage of YES 4.

The YES teams were given 6 minutes to pitch their business ideas to a panel of judges consisting Industry experts and Captains of Industry. Each team would then have to defend their business ideas against the scrutiny of the judges during the Q & A session. Besides defending their business ideas, teams would also need to charm the audience as votes from them contribute to the teams’ points as well. Only 10 teams will move on to the main Judging session which will take place on 17th March, 2012.

There were also Lucky Draw prizes given out to the audience throughout the Breakthrough 2 event.

MoneyTree (M) CEO, Mr. Brandon Liew stated, “Our undergrads are definitely moving in the right direction. The quality of this year’s business idea is better and teams appear to be more confident when pitching their ideas to us.”

Among some of the judges who attended the YES 4 BreakThrough 2 Session were Mr Ahmad Razmy (Group MD Ikatan Arhaz Holdings), Mr. Anthony Umann (Silicon Valley startup veteran now based in Asia) and Ms Christy Lee (CEO of Techmaki).
