FieldTurf Installs DoublePlay Baseball Turf at Marlins Park

Miami Marlins get specially designed FieldTurf product installed for Bullpen Areas and Batting Tunnels.

Miami, FL, March 13, 2012 --(PR.com)-- FieldTurf is the choice of the Miami Marlins. The two-time World Series Champions have installed FieldTurf DoublePlay Classic for their bullpen areas at the new Marlins Park. The team also elected to install a shorter-pile FieldTurf product for their batting tunnels.

FieldTurf’s product development team, along with research partner Penn State University, designed the DoublePlay baseball turf product line to be completely customizable to the needs of baseball clients. This customization allows for baseball programs to get the baseball turf product they want.

“FieldTurf leads the industry in this type of field surface and they are a great addition to Marlins Park,” said Marlins Executive Vice President, Operations and Events, Claude Delorme. “Their work in our bullpens and batting tunnels compliment our ballpark and we’re extremely pleased to add them to our state-of-the-art facility.”

“Installing our turf at the beautiful new Marlins Park is certainly a point of pride for us,” said FieldTurf president Eric Daliere. “Marlins Park will be in the center of some high profile baseball events in the coming years and we’re glad our products have been chosen to be a part of the new ballpark.”

The first baseball game at the new ballpark took place on March 5, 2012 with a high school baseball game between Christopher Columbus High School and Belen Jesuit Preparatory School. The Marlins played an exhibition game on March 6 against the Miami Hurricanes and on March 7 against the FIU Golden Panthers. The Marlins are scheduled to host two exhibition games at the new ballpark against the New York Yankees on April 1 and 2, before they play their first regular season game on April 4 against the St. Louis Cardinals. The Marlins are pushing to have the new ballpark host the 2013 World Baseball Classic Championship game and 2015 Major League Baseball All-Star Game.

FieldTurf is changing the way the baseball community perceives artificial turf – with its specialized DoublePlay turf systems driving surface innovation throughout every level of baseball. The Marlins join an impressive list of over 25 NCAA Division 1 teams that play and/or practice on FieldTurf DoublePlay systems such as the University of Texas, Oregon State University, Rutgers University, and the University of Oregon, to name a few.
