One Simple Wish Helps One Foster Child Learn to Fly

One Simple Wish, a NJ based 501 (C)3 that serves foster children, is kicking off a month-long, 4,000 mile tour for Foster Care Awareness month. First stop on the tour will be in Camden, where the nonprofit will grant wishes to two local foster children.

Camden, NJ, April 27, 2012 --(PR.com)-- One Simple Wish, the nonprofit that empowers anyone to brighten the lives of foster children and vulnerable families, is coming to Camden, NJ on May 1, 2012 to kick off their 4,000 mile journey across the United States in support of foster children.

At this first stop on the tour, One Simple Wish will be partnering with Camden-based social service organization The Nehemiah Group in order to grant two very special wishes of two local foster children:

A flight lesson for a teen in foster care who wants to learn how to fly
A boat ride for a foster child who has never been on a boat

While granting these wishes, One Simple Wish will also kick off their month-long tour by hosting a party for young adults who have aged out of the foster care system. The party will be held at the Wiggins Park Marina in Camden, NJ from 11AM – 3PM.

Beginning with this event in Camden, One Simple Wish will be visiting 30 cities in 30 days, granting 30 wishes. “May is National Foster Care Awareness Month and we are raising awareness and action by taking our wish granting program to cities all across the country to shed light on the positive programs supporting youth in foster care in the US,” says Danielle Gletow, One Simple Wish’s Founder and Executive Director. Gletow, along with her two children and One Simple Wish employees, will hit the road in a 28-foot RV on May 1, 2012 to begin logging more than 4,000 miles. At each stop, the One Simple Wish crew will interview foster care providers, child advocates, and most importantly young adults and children impacted by the foster care system. These interviews will be featured as part of an online video blog being created so the public can track the journey and find out more about the agencies and individuals being visited. Wishes are also being granted at every stop, and the public will be provided with one simple way to help each organization.

One Simple Wish is seeking sponsors for this event in Camden as well as donations of gas & grocery gift cards; with sponsorships ranging from sponsoring one mile to the entire journey. See a full city list or find out more or email info@onesimplewish.org
