Polaris to Exhibit Oncology System at the Association of Oncology Social Work Conference in Boston

Polaris is exhibiting its Polaris Oncology Distress Management System in Boston this week at the 28th annual Association of Oncology Social Work (AOSW) Conference.

Langhorne, PA, May 31, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Polaris Health Directions will exhibit its Polaris Oncology Distress Management System at the 28th annual Association of Oncology Social Work (AOSW) Conference, which kicks off at the end of the month.

Polaris Oncology is a Web-based system that supports the assessment and management of psychosocial distress experienced by many cancer patients. It is uniquely positioned to help social workers quickly and efficiently identify a patient’s psychosocial needs, and then refer them to the appropriate care. Polaris Oncology’s automated referral feature matches patients to providers based on their insurance and zip code. The system’s reporting component generates tailored, motivational patient feedback and care team reports.

Polaris Oncology was selected by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer (CoC) for inclusion in its Best Practices Repository, and is designed to help organizations meet the CoC distress management standards efficiently and cost-effectively. The system supports the Survey Application Record by producing a report.

Polaris Oncology was developed with funding from the National Institutes of Health and in collaboration with Cooper Cancer Institute, the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, the MD Anderson Cancer Center and the University of Massachusetts Medical School.

The AOSW Conference, “Navigating a New World: Revolutions in Psychosocial Oncology Care,” is being held in Boston, Mass., from May 30 through June 1, 2012. Look for the Polaris team at booth 39.

About Polaris Health Directions

Polaris recognizes that organizations cannot manage what they do not measure. Many behavioral health care providers and payers may not be collecting and analyzing enough of the right data to answer basic questions about the cost-effectiveness of the care they offer. Polaris's advanced technology and science driven assessment systems are designed to capture the clinical data essential to quality improvement and enhanced organizational management. Polaris solutions provide advanced analytics to help organizations improve and demonstrate to their customers the value of their care. With a focus on prediction, Polaris solutions do more than describe clinical change. They also indicate if treatment is likely to have a positive result. Helping organizations make better decisions in the present by anticipating the future will be the difference in reducing their costs while improving patient care.
