Color Correction Mysteries Revealed at Next Editors' Lounge

Veteran colorist Steve Hullfish and Tektronix Sr. Application Engineer Steve Holmes will be sharing secrets and techniques to assist colorists in honing their craft.

Burbank, CA, June 07, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Color grading can be an intricate and complex process. The human visual system constantly adjusts making it tricky to know what colors you are truly looking at. Combine that with the challenge of ensuring your technical standards will pass QC. What’s an editor or colorist to do? On June 29th the Editors’ Lounge will step up to the challenge by presenting a special evening with veteran colorist Steve Hullfish and Tektronix Sr. Application Engineer, Steve Holmes. The event will be held at AlphaDogs Post Production 1612 W. Olive Ave., Burbank, CA 91506 beginning at 6:30 pm. RSVP is required in order to attend. Whether it’s making a final sequence look better or just fixing a few bad shots, the evening will be full of secret tips and techniques to assist colorists in honing their craft.

Steve Hullfish brought the art of color correction from the dark arts to the light of day in 2002 with his book "Color Correction for Digital Video: Using Desktop Tools to Perfect Your Image" He has continued to train colorists and published a follow up book in 2008, "The Art and Technique of Digital Color Correction." Steve will be sharing lots of invaluable knowledge as well as years of experience in working on a wide variety of projects.

Steve Holmes will share his expertise on when video scopes can come in handy. Video scopes can sometimes be intimidating to use. In this special class, Steve will make the use of scopes easier to understand and show different techniques on how editors can improve their skills. Steve has been with Tektronix for 12 years and has over 25 years of video experience. Prior to working at Tektronix, Steve spent 20 years installing, teaching, engineering, and managing Video and CATV systems. Currently Steve consults and also teaches test methodologies for Broadcast, Studio, Cable and Manufacturing for customers based in the Western United States and Western Canada.

The Editors’ Lounge offers the opportunity to learn from post-production industry peers and networking with new and old friends. The Lounge opens at 6:30 pm with presentations beginning at 7:00 pm.
